Brunch at Shore Club Chicago

One of the coolest parts about Chicago is that you can be in the middle of the bustling city surrounded by buildings and tourists one minute, and relaxing in the sand looking at open water the next. This past weekend I organized a beach day with some of my friends here in the city, and a few of us kicked off the day with brunch at Shore Club Chicago. The atmosphere takes you straight out of the city and drops you right off at a giant tent with the cutest, beachy vibe! It doesn’t even feel like you’re in Chicago!

Thirty Days of Eating “Better”

No, I am not going on a diet. No Whole 30, Keto or anything remotely close. I’m strictly trying to eat better- at least for 30 days. We’ll see what happens after. This all started a couple of weeks ago when honestly, I felt BAD. I was sluggish, and just felt outright gross. And as much as I wanted to deny it, I knew why - it’s because I was eating terribly. It’s rare for me to ever turn down a fast food run or delivery (Uber Eats and I are very close friends), and you already know my love for a bottomless mimosa brunch.

Breakfast at Eggy's Diner

It has been a while since I've actually went out for what I could call "breakfast". I'm definitely more of a brunch girl, given that I can sleep in a bit longer and you know, the mimosas. But this particular time, I would definitely classify my experience at Eggy's Dinner as breakfast - and it was great.

My Summer Bucket List

Chicago is testing me right now. May 20th, and the high today is 47 degrees. FORTY SEVEN. I just don't get it! Regardless of what is happening currently, I know that sooner rather than later, Summer will hit. I just know it! One thing this cold weather has done was make me anticipate the warm weather even more. I've put together a list of things that I must do this year.

What I'm Looking Forward To This Summer

This "Spring" has been very busy for me! I put it in quotations because, let's be honest - that season doesn't really happen in Chicago. I recently moved to a new apartment, which is always a time consuming process, and work has been pretty busy as well. Now that the dust is starting to settle, I've had some time to reflect on the past month, as well as get excited about what's coming up in the next few months! Here's what I'm looking forward to…

I WON on Let's Make A Deal! (Plus Full Episode Link)

People that know me and my family know that we love to be on TV. We're not celebrities, and we don't have our own show, but we do know how to get on TV and we're good at it. In the past, we've been in the audience for shows like The Voice, LIVE! with Kelly and Michael, and the Today Show - where my mom and I got to be a part of a summer-themed featured segment! I thought that was going to be the most humble-bragging I got to do for a while- until last summer, when we went to Let's Make a Deal in LA. Not only were we in the audience, but my cousin Penny, my mom and I all got to play as contestants, and we all won a prize!

My Eyelash Extension Experience

I am not a morning person. No matter how much sleep I get the night before, mornings are hard for me. Also, no matter how hard I try to simplify it, I complete a full makeup routine every day before work. The combination of the aforementioned traits, plus my interest in trying new things, prompted me to try eyelash extensions!

A Trip to Fayetteville, AR

Ah Fayetteville. My college town (Woo Pig Sooie!), and my home once I graduated and got my first "big girl job". I work for the same company today; however, they transferred me to Chicago a couple of years ago. Surprisingly, I have not been back to Fayetteville since I moved. Well, I went back once, but it was for one night and I got sick - so that doesn't count. I had to be in Fayetteville this past week for work, but decided to go down the weekend before so I could spend some time in a city that I lived in for over 5 years.

Brunch at LoKal Chicago

One thing that gets me through the work week is knowing that I have brunch plans that upcoming weekend. This time, I went to LoKal Chicago with Roosevelt for his birthday! This was my second time going in a matter of weeks, and ironically, as I’m writing this, I have plans to go back TOMORROW. Can I officially call this my new favorite spot?

Dim Sum at Duck Duck Goat

If you’re into the Chicago food scene, you know you have to hit the restaurants of one of our most notable chefs, Stephanie Izard. She was the first female chef to win a season of Top Chef (go girl), and if you’ve tried any of her dishes, you understand why. While eating at her most popular restaurant, Girl & The Goat, usually requires a 60-90 day advance reservation (which is totally worth it),  she has a couple of other restaurants that are a bit more accessible. The one I most recently visited was Duck Duck Goat, self-described as “Reasonably Authentic Chinese”.

My First Time Meal Prepping + Grocery List

This post is all about meal preparation. This past week, I tried it for the first time, and probably not for reasons that you may expect. You see, I would not consider myself a "healthy eater". There is a Taco Bell a block away from my apartment, and I definitely take advantage of it. The reason for me venturing into meal prep wasn't about health, it was about money.
